			Webskape™ The QCL WS is a suite of software designed to run and manage distributed Internet applications. WS is ideal for kiosks but can be used for any distributed application. WS has been created with web developers in mind and uses many web standards. WS applications are written in an XML (Extensible Markup Language) based language that borrows heavily from XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language). WS applications also support ECMAScript (ECMA-262 a java based scripting language), DOM (Document Object Model) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), which allows developers to learn quickly and borrow straight from existing code. This also allows applications to be edited using 3rd party software that supports these standards. As WS has been built on Internet standards it is very flexible. When creating applications there are few limits to design, interactivity and functionality. WS connects using an Internet communication system called remoting and a protocol called SOAP. Remoting allows WS to communicate from anywhere across the Internet or an intranet without the need for expensive networks. QCL WS is scalable, extensible and robust. The software is built using .net a robust platform designed with distributed applications in mind. BackOffice uses SQL Server databases. There are three essential components of the WS suite.  Player This component sits on the kiosk. QCL WS Player is our application player. The Player can run standalone applications, Internet driven applications or applications as part of WS's BackOffice system. The Player is not 'sand boxed' like normal Internet software and is able to connect to printers and serial ports. The Player also includes several kiosk and touch screen options such as full screen and cursor removal.  BackOffice This component sits on the server. QCL WS BackOffice is the project, user, data and content management system. BackOffice is server side software and must be on either the Internet or an intranet and requires SQL Server in order to function. Players login to BackOffice and access the relevant parts of the BackOffice functionality or provide usage and performance reports and alerts.  Remote This component sits on manager’s pcs. QCL WS Remote is the Remote management software. Managers can login to BackOffice from their desktop and manage all the server BackOffice functionality and kiosk Players. BackOffice cannot access without Remote. Once logged in Remote hides away in the desktop taskbar and sends alerts when intervention is needed.
